vacation day

I have 109 hours of vacation left to use this year.  I could roll some over to next year, but I  prefer to use it:  the joke would be on me if I died with unused vacation.  So, vacation today, and tomorrow afternoon.  The next few weeks, there are all-day requirements sessions for the project I'm currently on, so...we'll see.

I spent the morning cutting fabric for this year's Teslacon concoction.  Then, cooking the veg I haven't had time to cook yet.  Not sure what to call the dish:  lots of panch puran seed mix, a head of garlic, 2 onions, and some portabello mushrooms all sauteed, add blanched bitter melon, seeded jalapenos, a bag of frozen brussel sprouts, a jar of spicy pickled asparagus, tofu, and a can of coconut milk (plus half a can of water) and let it simmer while the rice cooked.  At the end, added a bunch of cherry tomatoes.

I cracked open all my fridge pickles:  cucamelon, daikon, and bitter melon.  A tasty meal.  It was missing a little something...and as is often true, that something was pork.  So, got a small package and cooked it tonight, to top the leftovers.

Tonight, a plum and firecracker crabapple crumble.  Ginger, allspice, and pomegranate booze with the fruit; ground almonds, oatmeal, ceylon cinnamon, and buckwheat flour in the topping (along with plenty of butter and brown sugar).

Weekend before last was Quilt Expo - saw many fine things, heard a few useful things, bought a little more than I should have.

This weekend, gaming and kayaking.

Have assembled the must-do-before-winter household list, but haven't tackled much of it yet.
Friending welcome, but lurking is fine too.

Constructive criticism is also welcome - whatever it is, trust me, I've heard worse.
