this is not the post I'm looking for...

...but it will have to do for now.

Busybusybusy.  This account isn't supposed to have a lot of inward-facing commentary, for now at least.  But, the job...sweet zombie Jesus.  I'll be saying that for the next week or so.

I did manage to extract myself from work long enough to research the candidates for yesterday's primary, and then get to my polling place a full 28 minutes before they closed.  I think I was voter #266 - it's a tiny polling place.  For the primary, for the party I was placing votes for, there weren't very many decisions to make.  It's the principle of the thing.

Made some progress on steampunk outfits, before the job went pear-shaped.  The "explorer" outfit is nearly done.  The more classic Victorian outfit is still a work-in-progress.  After over-agonizing on fabric at JoAnn's, I finally picked up some tan/gray/black paisley-esque fabric that reminds me of clockwork.  The plan is to sew a walking skirt...but since they only had 3.2 yards of fabric I'll need to get extra-creative (this pattern would have taken much more).  Saturday morning with graph paper and protractor got me to something that I think will work.  Next step is to see if my sewing skills are up to it.

I do have an idea for a small portable library, complete with reading light (powered with bottles of colored vinegar).  More appropriate for me, I think, than a ray gun or goggles.  Although the green lenses on the welder's goggles are super-cool.
Friending welcome, but lurking is fine too.

Constructive criticism is also welcome - whatever it is, trust me, I've heard worse.
