rib, apples, Agricola

That lingering pain from tree climbing day appears to be a bruised rib or something like it.  Minor, but annoying.  Surprisingly annoying when one is scrambling around on the roof cleaning the gutters, or dragging large branches to brush piles.

Went to apple orchard on Friday.  Got cider, the Cortland apples Mom wanted, and more apples.  Made a pie with earliblaze apples on the bottom and almata apples on top.  The almatas have pretty red flesh. I seasoned the earliblaze with cinnamon, allspice, ginger, and orange juice; I seasoned the almatas with nutmeg and vanilla.  Added a minimum of sugar.  And it wasn't really a pie:  pie crust with a hole cut in the middle and wrapped up over the filling (but not quite covering it, so the pretty almatas showed).  So, sort of a pie ring.

It was all underseasoned (I didn't want to overpower the apples), and this time I added too little water to the crust instead of too much.  But as a proof-of-concept, it worked.  I plan to revisit the two-layer apple pie concept again this season.

Went to a restaurant supplies store on Saturday.  Plastic lidded condiment cups (or jello shot cups, if you prefer) make good cheap storage for little stuff.  I got 3-oz cups for Agricola game pieces.  Probably I should get some 2-oz cups to save space; I think everything except the cows can fit in smaller cups.

It's easier than you'd think to crack a rib, and boy does it let you know about it, for weeks.
Friending welcome, but lurking is fine too.

Constructive criticism is also welcome - whatever it is, trust me, I've heard worse.
