and lately...

...more squash soup.  This time with carrot juice instead of apple cider, plus bacon, onion, garam masala, fenugreek, and salt.  The immersion blender does a nice job of pureeing bacon.  Bacon puree is definitely a concept worth exploring further.  Housemate informs me that the soup goes well with the mess-o-fry that I did a couple days earlier (again bacon, plus assorted legume sprouts, extra-firm tofu, onion, beets and greens from the garden (yep, still a little bit of garden to be had), a bunch of Dave's Crazy Caribbean hot sauce, and a little balsamic vinegar at the end.  And noodles.  Might have been some other stuff in there - I lost track.

And sewing, packing, etc.  Teslacon starts Friday, and I am not prepared.  Since it is an immersion con, I feel a certain obligation to more or less blend in (or to stand out in a good way).  Can't just throw my hands in the air and show up in jeans and t-shirt.  And I enjoy the creativity and invention part of things.

And work.  Screwed up to a depth I find hard to describe.  Stupid inconvenient work ethic is becoming a problem, as the eventual reward for all this work could be the loss of my job.  I am attempting to address this, while still adhering to the inconvenient work-ethic thing.

And the usual other stuff.  Some personal/friend issues, which I generally do not discuss here.  Winter house-battening is pretty much done (which is good, since it was 18 degrees when I got home tonight):  new furnace filter, draft-stopping film over the relevant parts of the picture window, water turned off outside, etc.

I dug up sunchokes, but have yet to actually do anything with them.

I have gone too long without writing (fiction) again.  It erodes my soul, which exacerbates all the other issues.

Mom's doing well, though, so that's good.
Friending welcome, but lurking is fine too.

Constructive criticism is also welcome - whatever it is, trust me, I've heard worse.
