On the way back I stopped in Milton, where they were having a big local shindig. I bought some fancy tea (assam, and a green tea chai blend, for me, plus an Earl Grey white tea for Mom), a flower frog/ikebana vase (like these, but mine has a gorgeous thin slab of quartz in place of the slate), and a metal sculpture (a somewhat silly purchase, practicality-wise, but it's cool - definitely my style - and well-made, and he'd cut the price so he wouldn't have to cart them back home). Oh, and a bottle of Bright Spirits Wisconsin cranberry grape wine from Northleaf Winery - it really does start sweet and end tart. Tasty, too.
I also toured Milton House. The tunnel for the underground railroad was interesting, and the rest of the memorabilia reminded me of my beloved historical museum job back in high school. The docents were a mixed bag; some were good and some were redundant or remedial. And at the end of the tour they just dumped us out the back door and that was it - bizarre. But it was worth it; I'd go again, sometime when there are fewer people.
