Nothing too unusual the last couple of weeks.  Plenty of tomatoes - no complaints here.  Also peppers, beans, onions, chard, beets, carrots, etc.  This week, spinach and baby lettuce too.

The CSA people were selling 25-lb boxes of Roma tomatoes for $18, and tomatillos for 0.80/lb.  I've plugged in the basement freezer and and apparently hoarding for winter now.  Interestingly, frozen whole tomatillos sound just like pool balls.

Two batches of crockpot tomato sauce were made.  Spoonful of crushed garlic, two spoonfuls of thyme, some salt, and all the tomatoes that will fit in the crockpot; when cooked, (carefully) carefully blend with an immersion blender.

Blanch the tomatoes to get the skins to come right off.  I found that removing seeds as well makes a thicker sauce - closer to the expected consistency.

Possibility of frost here tonight, well over 3 weeks ahead of average frost date.  I've half-heartedly covered the tomatoes and peppers.  If things don't make it, then I'll have a breather for a while, and can maybe finally do what I keep meaning to do:  prep the entire garden before fall, instead of scrambling in spring.
Friending welcome, but lurking is fine too.

Constructive criticism is also welcome - whatever it is, trust me, I've heard worse.
