AmSci!

Toys toys toys.  We went to American Science & Surplus yesterday, in Milwaukee.  It's been too long since my last visit, plus thoughts of steampunk are in my head these days, plus it's been a rough week.  So, moderation was not my primary objective.

my haul:
-- brass compass (with glow-in-the-dark outer ring)
-- water test kit (tests for 10 different contaminants, mostly using test strips)
-- contour gauge
-- "enviro battery" science kit (potato clocks and the like)
-- a two-deck set of periodic table playing cards
-- A set of fancy magnifying glasses
-- a pair of clip-on loupes
-- a hand siphon pump
-- 100' of thin cable (back at the physics job I used to weave baskets out of unused bits of wire)
-- an amber bottle with dropper (I'd like something to hold the diluted tea tree oil)
-- hemostats and suture scissors - hey, those things are handy.
-- a skeleton that grows in water to a few feet - Halloween decorating done
-- a pair of welding goggles
-- two tiny ball bearings and a small knife switch...because it's almost impossible for me to get out of there without some bit of gadgetry for a project I'll likely never complete.

Friending welcome, but lurking is fine too.

Constructive criticism is also welcome - whatever it is, trust me, I've heard worse.
