yay farmer's market.

Yesterday I extracted myself from work at a reasonable hour and got to a proper farmer's market.  I went a little nuts, buying at least one of everything, and something from every vendor.  Well, I did promise to spend more money on market-fresh produce this year.

Now to figure out what to do with this fresh wealth:  papalo, asparagus, carrots, small red potatoes, snap peas, green beans, beets, red and white onions, kale, broccoli, zucchini, and strawberries.  And a lamb shank.  In my own yard, the mulberries and the sour cherries are ripe.  And I bought a bottle of the New Glarus Happy Accident fruit ale on my way out of town.

The lamb shank will flavor some sort of stew - probably with the veg roasted separately and the fruit ale for deglazing.  I think some whole mustard seeds will work well in that.  The snap peas will be good steamed, with a sour cream and dill seed sauce.  I think that's dinner tonight.  Probably tortellini with asparagus and green beans for lunch/leftovers - if I get off my keister soon.  The beets will keep for later.  Some of the berries will become baked goods and/or freezer jam this weekend; until then I'll just stuff myself with fresh strawberries.  Stil thinking on the kale, broccoli, and papalo...I might pick up a bit of chorizo tomorrow, and add some chickpeas and a side of rice.

Constructive criticism is also welcome - whatever it is, trust me, I've heard worse.
